Orthotics and Podiatry
Podiatry is the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the foot and ankle, and particularly the interaction of the lower limb body joints (known as biomechanics).
Orthotics are devices used to alter or modify foot function in order to treat biomechanical foot disorders.
At the Clinic for Foot & Ankle Surgery our dedicated orthotic and podiatrist specialists work together with our consultant surgeons to ensure the optimum treatment is identified for our patients.
Foot orthotics are fitted in your every day shoes or trainers and are intended to correct abnormal biomechanical gait (walking pattern). They perform functions that make walking and running comfortable by slightly altering the angle the foot strikes the ground.
They are also used to offload the areas of discomfort in the metatarsals (toe joints) foot ulcers and flat feet.
They will offer pain relief for those suffering from general foot pain such as in the heels and shins and can give you freedom to enjoy your everyday activities.
